Yves Gonthier – 10 years of creation in Percé

Born in Chandler, Yves Gonthier returned to his native Gaspé in 1980 after studying visual arts in Quebec City. He built his studio in Val-d’Espoir specifically with the desire to prove that it is possible to succeed as an artist in the region. Through his multiple fields of experience, his artistic interests and a training that includes graphic design, print media, lettering and photography, he understood that versatility is a major asset in the region. “In Quebec City, I worked in the world of communications. I created signs and posters, but my work was becoming too commercial. I felt the need to change my environment, to come back to Gaspésie to reconnect with art and creation,” says the artist.
